Ithaca

Yesterday we went into Carson City. One gunstore had a used Ithaca side-by-side in 16 gauge. It was in pretty decent shape. The price seemed fair.

Does anyone here have any knowledge about this brand of shotgun?

Also, what is the availablility of nontoxic 16GA ammo like?

Ithaca made some fine shotguns. I owned a NID in 16 ga for years, finally selling it ,mostly because it didn't fit me all that well and I missed too many shots with it. It was, in fact, very well built and it still had quite a bit of the case hardening colors along with barrel bluing that was close to 100%. Ithaca also made an earlier SxS called the Flues Model. The Flues was not a strong as the NID and sometimes had short chambers. Do you know which model you are looking at?

Ithaca has made good shotguns and have been able to keep a good reputation for a lot of years.
