because the point isn't to make a firearm that has factory ammo available, it's to make a firearm that sells.

and firearms that don't have factory ammo available simply don't sell, (other than as collector pieces after they've gone out of production) and there are many firearms that failed to sell enough to stay in production even when factory ammo was available.

There is a circle here, it goes round and round. No factory ammo, guns don't sell well. Gun not selling well, no factory ammo gets made...

If factory ammo only comes from one place, the circle is still there, just with a larger radius....

Sometimes one does find exceptions. Sometimes cartridges or firearms do get off that wheel. IF they are good enough at what they do or don't have any real competition at what they do, they can, sometimes, become popular enough to sustain themselves on their own merits.

The surest way to getting your new firearm some sales is to chamber it in an established, popular cartridge.

Yes, this does scream "Marlin camp carbine". I like it for what it is and may give it a try.

I hope Henry used steel or even aluminum in this gun, rather than the zinc they like to use on their .22s.
