New/old Taurus blued model 94, .22 LR 9 shot revolver

Just bought a blued model 94, .22 LR 9 shot revolver. Looks like it has been shot very little and had a really beautiful blue finish with no marring.

I also have a really nice S&W model 63-5. Sort of wanted to see how good I can make the Taurus run. By the way, I really like the S&W but I would like it better with the deep dark blue finish like the Taurus has.

Haven’t heard much good about the Taurus revolvers, but this one seems so nice I would be surprised if it had any problems.

I think they stopped making these blued model 94’s some time ago. Anyone have any experience with one of these blued model 94’s?

Nice. I wish they still finished them like that. Congrats

We had one at the range I worked at-it held up pretty good and was rented quite a bit.
I couldn't begin to guess how many round's had been fired in the pistol-and yes the bluing is very nice on those.
The only problem I had with it every now and then I had to take the cylinder and crane apart and clean the lead deposit that had accumulated.
Once again keeping in mind that hundreds of rounds a week went thru this one.

I had a stainless 94 years ago, and really liked it. I shot it quite accurately in SA. The DA is really stiff. A Browning Buckmark was a more appropriate .22 for my son so I traded it.

I've had one for many years in the snubby version. It's my carry around the compound gun so I carry it almost everyday while working outside. I have ct grips on it . Its not pretty, had some rust issues on the frame and cylinder but I repaired it with rust reformer and black paint. no further rust issues with it. I find it very accurate in both single and double action. HKS makes a speedloader for it too.

I have one, bought new and used for teaching NRA Basic Pistol classes. By some miracle, my 94 has been reliable since I brought it home. By contrast, I also have a Taurus .327 Federal Magnum -- which is the same gun -- and that was a nightmare. It took weeks of fiddling by me, and then the gunsmith at the range shop, and then me again, before it would fire three shots in a row without locking up.

I've had the old blued Taurus 94 and have a newer stainless steel model.

The older 94 was an "understudy gun" for the bigger centerfire Tauri and Rugers.

One thing to do if you want to lighten and smooth out the trigger pull is to use snap caps, or spent brass (needs changing out every few cylinder cycles), and dry fire the revolver 100-500 times. Obviously not all in one session. #4 or 6 wall anchors can be used in place of the snap caps.

Both revolvers got the treatment.

Called Taurus and found out the gun was made about April 2006. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but hope to remedy this soon.
