the woods around here have not changed, so I guess I will take the Marlin 336Y 30-30 or the 1894S in .44 Mag.
I may get a chance to hunt again across some hay fields. If so, I will take the Mannlicher-Schoenauer in .270 or the custom FN Mauser in 7x57 Ackley.

To clarify my earlier post
I detailed the guns a bit, but not the other equipment.
Bow is 1999 Hoyt Aspen compound, Carbonite limbs, 60-70#, Copper John Dead Nuts sight. Easton carbon fiber arrows, 10.0 gpi (#340), 29.0", Magnus Stinger broadheads. ML#1 is Traditions Lightning 22" bbl, .45 cal, synthetic/nickel (stock blows), with Bushnell Trophy 1.5-4.5x32mm scope. Probably gonna run with T/C Cheap Shot saboted .400 bullets, all lead, 180 gr, over two 50-grain triple 7 pellets and Remington Kleenbore primers. ML#2 is Traditions Thunderbolt 26" fluted bbl, .50 cal, synthetic/blue (same crappy stock), iron sights w/F.O. in the irons. This is just a backup in case I take friends hunting. |

I will start the deer season off with the TC Omega 50. CAL. When rifle season kicks in I will use either the Browning BAR MK II 30.06 or I might just bring out the Model 70 in 30.06 for its first ever hunt and deer kill.

An NEF 308 Survivor rifle with heavy barrel. I have switched out the rear stock for a regular rifle stock. Mounted on top I have a Nikon 3 X 9 fixed powered scope. This year I am feeding it 180 grain Fusion Ammo. Cannot wait for season to open (Oct. 21).

I'm not sure what I'm using this deer season. I just got back from a Wyoming hunting trip and my left handed Savage 7mm Rem Mag could not have done a better job. My only issue is that I have a 6x - 18x variable scope on it. It's a little big for deer hunting in thick Kentucky woods.
I also have a custom made .308 Win with a small straight 4x on it. Great gun, accurate as hell and I love the .308 round. The only issue with the gun is that it is right handed. Right handed bolts were never a problem to use until I bought my left handed Savage. I want to use the .308 for deer this year but I'm a little leary on follow up shots using the right handed bolt now. I'm thinking it will be a game time decision the night before the season starts. |

I posted earlier that I will take my .30-06 and the Henry that the wife bought me. I just wanted to add that the Henry Big Boy .44 is an awesome rifle. I ran 30 rounds through mine yesterday and I can get 1" groupings with Fusion ammunition. I am getting excited for gun season to open here in Alabama as I am for sure going to carry the Henry so I may be carrying both depending on which are I am going to.

Knight inline muzzleloader for early muzzleloader, and maybe even rifle season too instead of my Ruger m77 in 308.
Late muzzleloader season will be a chance for my Traditions 50 cal flintlock. |

I hunt in fairly heavy woods. I use a Ruger Mini30 with a 1.5x5 varible scope. Shots are seldom over 60 yards! 'Mo

I really don't know what I'm going to use this year. I just picked up a Tikka light in stainless. Never shot the gun yet but it looks like a nice gun. I need to get her to the range to see how she shoots.
Ive been spending most of my time bow hunting. This a first for me! I shot this cull buck with a recurve. I'm about ready to chunk all my compound bows in the trash and just stay with a recurve. Once you learn how to shoot a recurve they are just so much fun [/IMG]http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a98/RickySherman/mountainlion018.jpg Man I can't remember how to post a pic |

So many choices....
Model 1893 Spanish Mauser - 7x57mm
Model 1916 Spanish Carbine - 7x57mm Left-hand bolt Savage Arms rifles in - .22-250 Rem. and .270 Win. 1903 Springfield, 1917 Enfield, M-1 Garand - .30-06 Springfield Mossberg 835 - 12 gauge No. 1 Mk. III SMLE (3x), No. 4 Mk. I SMLE (2x) - .303 British 2A1 Ishapore SMLE, Stg 58 pattern FN-FAL semiauto - 7.62x51mm NATO Universal M-1 Carbine - .30 Carbine Lone Eagle single shot - 7mm-08 Rem. Some of them need load development and sighted in, the Savages need scopes, rings and bases and I need to find the time and funds to do it all. |

I will be hunting with one of these:
The one on the left is an Encore Katahdin, .50x209 muzzleloader, 20" barrel with Firesight front and peep rear. The one on the right is a Marlin 1894 .44 Magnum, setup with the same sight system. Ballisically, identical, as I shoot 85gr of powder in the MZ with a 250gr sabot, and toss a 240gr XTP at full-tilt boogie out of the Marlin. As a point of reference, a yardstick would fall about midway in length between the two rifles. Ideal for the terrain I encounter out in the backyard. Good luck all!
