noobie to reloading

i;ve noticed there's a lot of berdan primed milsurp ammo.

i have heard these aren't worth the effort to try to reload.

what seems to be so different about these?

thanks,
sewerman

The major difference I am aware of (there may be others) is that Berdan brass has two offset flash holes where Boxer brass uses a single centered flash hole. Berdan primers are hard, if even possible, to find in the US. Removing Berdan primers requires a special tool.

If you are a range rat like me, picking up left behind brass, you may occasionally come across Berdan brass. You'll know it when reloading, when you go to deprime it and either your pin breaks or the depriming mandrel pushes up in it's collet (on Lee style dies).
