1858 Remington

I've seen several threads on these pistols. I was hoping someone might be able to help me ID a gift. The model I have has an "A" stamped above the trigger on the frame, with what appears to be an "s" slightly behind and below the "A". Any help would be appreciated.

By itself that combination has no meaning for me. Are there any other marks, especially on the barrel under the loading lever? Is there a chance you could post pictures?

Armi San Marco's logo was a superimposed ASM. The M was barely detectable. In most of their work there was a second more intelligible marking on the floor face of the barrel, under the loading lever.

ASM is in my opinion an under-rated manufacturer. I have several and they are all of fairly good quality.

Photo would be helpful.

Thanks for the input. Not able to post pics right this minute, but I'll look in the suggested spots for marks.

Some of the stamps are hard to read, it does say made in Italy, with the initials RAU maybe? There is a serial number of 11558, what appears to be an upside down RG on the lever, and PN on several places.

The initials are RAG and it was made by Rigarmi. They went under in the early 70's.

Thanks, I will. I've got the older navy colt, and I have the Uberti Henry in 45 colt. Been a revolver/ lever fan all my life. I appreciate all the input. Btw,do they make a conversion cylinder for this gun, or should I stay black powder?

Well there's always the possibility I'm wrong. Not likely but possible.

No and to my knowledge none of the conversions they do make can be made to fit. Parts for these guns are hard to find.

I'm curious about how you know that none of the conversions can be made to fit a Rigarmi?
Has someone tried all of the ones available and couldn't make any of them fit?

I said not to my knowledge. I know Pietta wont fit and I'm pretty sure Uberti wont fit even tho I haven't personally tried a Uberti.
