Lest you fear lower velocity will seriously hinder the effectiveness of a one ounce rifled slug, here is a link to a successful deer hunt by Brobee 223 with a Mossberg ShockWave using Remington Low Recoil Rifled Slugs. These slugs, rated at 1200 fps, actually reached 1100 fps from the 14 inch barrel. The 590 had an XS Big Dot sight installed over the original bead to bring the slug rounds down to a 50 yard point of aim.

The complete pass-through shot came at frame 7.00

Great shot placement. Even without the heart and dbl lung hit, that slug went all the way through and kept going. A 1oz chunk o lead at 1100fps is nothing to sneeze at

Another successful deer hunt by Brobee 223, this time with Remington Low Recoil 8 pellet 00B. Again, a taller front sight and careful pre-hunt patterning set the limits of this load from the cylinder bore Mossberg Shock Wave.

I know this is an old thread but I just gotta say...

Using a Shockwave to deer hunt is one of the most Alabama things I have ever read. Gives Florida Man a run for his money.

For comfortable shooting, the .410 is really the go to for the Shockwave. 12 gauge Minishells are doable with the adapters, I wouldn't be opposed to someone doing that if minishells were more common. 20 gauge I doubt has less recoil, so .410 we know will.

Got a Remington Tac 14. I’m 74 and not as strong as older days. My problem with the short barrel and pistol grip is not recoil “pain” but keeping it on target. If I aim at the center of a torso target I end up shooting so high it would go over their heads. Have to really lean into the shot with about as much firm grip as I’m able. My added forearm strap seems to help a little and keeps me from losing the grip on the forearm.

Form 1ed the damn thing… more awesome. We had 14” 870s at work. But like mine more (Magpul stock, Remington barrel with XS sights). Personally, with turnaround times being like they are, stamp is a pretty good route if your state allows it.

Are Form 1’s going as quickly as Form 4’s?
Ive got a Shockwave that is just sitting in the safe at this point. Might look at a stock for it.

Under a week… granted it isn’t something that goes into pending research.

If it fits the make/model with previously added fields, I’d take a shot of the receiver engraving… and it likely will be done under a week.

At least the past couple I’ve done over the last year. Some were within 48 hours.
