Carry flashlight????

Ok people. What kind of flashlight do you carry? I recently purchased a Surefire E2 and it is super bright and fits in my front pocket nicely.

Z2. Everyday, everwhere, in all kinds of weather. Kinda curious about the new pocket clip models, however. Neat idea. Clips to the pocket just like a tactical folding knife.

Worth a look anyway.

I am a big fan of Streamlight Scorpions. No, they are not quite as good as the Surefires and don't have quite the beam quality, but at 1/2 the price, they are a bargain. Both will illuminate people out to 100 yards which is more than I need. The Scorpion comes with a replacement bulb carried onboard the light and additional replacements are about $5. This is not possible on the Surefires whose replacement bulbs run closer to $15.

So for the drudgery of carrying in a pants pocket, vest, or coat, the Scorpion is the way to go. There is a lot less to lose if it is lost or severly damaged with little compromise in light as compared to the Surefires. That being said, I like my Surefires just fine and have a Z3 that serves as my emergency bedside light.

Prefer the older style 6Z, which is easier on my thigh and conceals better than the newer hex-head models.

Streamlight Scorp.

Ditto to what was said before. It is certainly not as good as a Surefire, but it sure is cheaper, and definately good enough.

I agree, Surefire E2. Sits nicely in my left rear pocket. Almost where the light would be if I was wearing a duty rig (one gun, one place, all the time).

For me, it's a surefire G2 Nitrolon. Basically the same as the 6 series, but a little bit more ergonomic and a lot lighter on the budget. I got mine from www.botachtactical.com (although many people on this board warn against shopping from Botach, I had nothing but good experiences from them).

I tend to carry it in my back pocket, opposite my wallet, or in a jacket pocket. Great little light.

I'm an old fashioned kinda guy... 6-D cell maglite. I don't really carry it around all the time, just when I take the puppybeast for a walk around the lake at night. Otherwise, it's next to my HK for the "just in case" scenario.

I just got a Scorpion but haven't tested it out yet.I've always been a Maglite guy but needed something I could activate while holding a handgun and it was alot cheaper than the Surefires.

I carry different flash lights for different applications.I always have an ASP on My key ring and a 4cell Maglight in My vehicle.At night while out and about I carry a Surefire 6Z Combat light in a Blade-Tech Kydex holder.Otherwise a Mini-Maglight is used for most of My lighting chores.tom.

Constant carry is a SureFire 6P. At the end of the week it'll be moving from my pocket into an Alessi belt carrier. At night I normally carry a Streamlight Stinger (slightly longer and rechargeable). I'm also trying to get the rechargeable conversion kit for the 6P.

Hi,

I use a 6P, in an uncle mike's nylon carrier on duty, and a kydex horizontal carrier bought from Armor of NH(Ayoob's company) off duty. On duty I also have a Streamlight SL20 in a flashlight ring on my belt.
TxShooter, I had the rechargeable setup, the 6R, and do not recommend it. It lowers the output of the light. A sililar size would be the 8X, which is much better, IMO.

Original 6P. This light has saved me more than I care to remember. Everything from illuminating city streets and parking lots when i think there might be a problem, to fixing a friend's truck. The important thing is to carry it with you at all times. I own a bunch of Maglites and they don't get used very often.

I have found that anything that uses batteries will fail when you need it most. So I always carry two lights. Primary a Surefire 6P in a surefire light holder on my belt, back up is a Photon micro light on the key chain. For more dressy occasions I use a surefire E-2 clipped in to my back pocket. A good light will only serve you if it is with you.

Good to see the flashlight manufacture I'm leaing towards for personal carry is popular here. I'm seriously looking at the Z3, possibly one of the "Executive" variants to accompany my concealed weapon when out and about.

I keep a 2-D Cell Maglite handy at strategic places in the home. One in my office/hobby room, one in the bedroom, one in the kitchen and one in each vehicle. I also stash one of the mini-mag lights (2-AA) in my day pack when trekking through the woods. A couple of the mini's are scattered here and there to suppliment the other maglites.

Keep those opinions and advice coming... Good info!!

A Surefire M-2 is my favorite light. I also have a streamlight scorpion which I like also. After you go with a Surefire or a Streamlight those mag lights look like a bad candle on a birthday cake. Wish I had found these long ago.The wife has a Surefire Executive Elite that she likes a bunch..........A bit of advise for new buyers of Surefire lights would be the original 6P has the most holster options of all Surefire lights if you don't like the clip on type....Only thing I wish the Streamlight Scorpion had that it doesn't is a lock out tailcap.

I used to use a Streamlight Scorpion till I did a night shoot and Andy Stanford let me try his SureFire E2E. I liked it enough I bought one and now it lives clipped to my pocket. The Streamlight stays in the bugout bag in the truck with the 4D Maglite already there.
