model 94 "teddy roosevelt" problems
i recently picked up a theodore roosevelt commemorative model 94 - the gun looks good, but thats about it - it looks like someone has beaten it around pretty good, the band that holds the magazine tube to the barrell and firmly into the reciever is broken off...sounded like a simple fix at first, but on closer study i cant find the new band to go along with the octagon barrell - all i have found thus far is a standard band that goes around the barrell and the tube, i need the one that is dovetailed into the bottom of the barrell and goes around the mag. tube only
any information would be greatly appreciated, i'd really like to get it functioning and out to the range instead of just sitting in the cabinet looking pretty, thanks |

I believe we have what you need....Will check inventory sometime this weekend. Win 94s and commemorative is all we deal with. One thing to keep in mind, if it's the part i think you're talking about, at the muzzle end, is silver soldered in the barrel.

ok...thanks for the info, now for the next question.....i was assuming that the band was tapered in or dovetailed but if it is soldered in how do i go about getting it out....or do i just give up and take it to a "real" gunsmith?

I don't know your skill level........
It requires heating to about 600 degrees, removing the broken piece, then applying heat, cleaning the area and soldering the new piece in place. After assembly, area polishing is necessary and then rebluing. The mag tube will then be reinstalled in position, and indexed, then redrilled for the new pin, as the lugs have no index hole.....your call ..... |
