Ruger mark III mainspring housing wont fall back after 1st assembly/disassembly??
I have a ruger mark III .22 cal that I took apart for the first time while watching a detailed assembly/dis assembly video on youtube. i took it apart, cleaned it, and put it back together. Now, the slide pulls back very rough and doesnt work right. When the slide does close, I pull the trigger and nothing happens. I tried to disassemble, but the mainspring housing latch wont open completely nor will the pin connected to it will budge. This is driving me NUTS I want to shoot this gun and want to get it back working again. Did i break something in the process, or is it put back together wrong or what??

Go back and remove the lower receiver, get it working, then reassemble the upper. Did you remove the trigger bar and it's plunger?
FWIW I usually don't detail strip the lower on mine other than for a super-serious cleaning every couple of years...(decades..) |

took me three tries over 2 years to figure out the secret
contrary to what the instruction book says, the hammer won't just fall...you have to use a pencil or other such long skinny tool to push the hammer where it should go before the spring will set back in the right place.
