Magtech 9mm 115gr JHP +P+ in Clear Ballistics Gel.
Test Gun: Sig P229, Kahr MK9. Barrel length: 3.9, 3 inches. Ammunition: Magtech 9mm 115gr +P+. Test media: 10% Clear Ballistics Gel. Distance: 10 feet. Chronograph: PACT 1 XP with inferred sky screens. Five shot velocity average: 1326, 1231fps Gel Temperature 70 degrees. I had about half a box of this ammo left over for when I testing of the +P+ 9mm ammo and thought it would be interesting to see how it will do in Clear Gel. This round is flashy, and I mean flash bulb flashy. A very bright fireball and plenty of blasts to go with it. Not to beat a dead horse but it is the flashiest 9mm I have ever shot. I got a five shot average of 1326fps with a high of 1337fps and a low of 1311fps with the P229. With the Kahr MK98 I had a five shot average of 1231fps with a high of 1243fps and a low of 1203fps. With the first round in bare gel, the round hit at a velocity of 1330fps and penetrated to 9.75 inches and expanded to .63 inches. It left jacket fragments at the 3, 5, and 7-inch mark. Round two had a velocity of 1302fps and penetrated to 11 inches and a recovered diameter of .67 inches. In the heavy clothing covered gel, the first round had a velocity of 1321fps, penetrated to 13.25 inches and expanded to .62 inches. Round two impacted at 1309fps and penetrated 14 inches and expanded to .64 inches and left a jacket fragment at 5.5 inches in the block. Out of the Kahr into the bare gel, the first round had a velocity of 1235fps and penetrated to 11.25 inches with a recovered diameter of .71 inches. It left jacket fragments to the 5.25 inch and 7.75-inch mark. The second round had a velocity of 1225fps and expanded to .66 inches with a penetration of 12.5 inches.

Well that would leave a mark. I haven't been looking but where did you find the ammo? Thank you for sharing your results.

Always enjoy your test results and photos 5pins. I've shot, and chronographed, a fair amount of Winchester and Federal +P+, and a little Remington 9MM +P+, but had never seen Magtech +P+ until your post here. Keep up the good work.

Wow! That is some hot ammo! I think that is pretty close to some of the tamer .357 magnum loads. It is probably faster than .357 magnum out of snub nose revolvers. Looks like some good expansion.
