How many HD Shotguns do you own?
I have two FN SLP Mark 1 shotguns. The extra one is a back up.

None, nada, zip. I own probably half a dozen different shotguns but none are for hd.
In my opinion, for what its worth, a handgun is far more practical and is enough to get the job done in any situation I am likely to encounter. |

I have about 24 shotguns - but nothing purely "tactical" .../ just don't see the need for it ...../ although a BPS pump with a 28" barrel could be used for defense if I chose to or a semi-auto with a 28" or 30" barrel ...
I'll rely on my 1911 ...if I had to. |

A few.........
Most of mine are dual purpose deer/HD guns. A couple of 20" 870's with rifle sight smoothbore barrels A 21" 11-87 with same A couple of 24" Mossbergs Then a few bird guns with 28-30" barrels I do have two that are more HD specific. A police trade in 870 18" A Mossberg 500 with an 18.5" Accuchoke LE barrel. (I use that one as a handy brush gun for deer though ). |

All shotguns are ideal for HD but as for having one dedicated for HD I do not. If I had to choose one of mine for HD it would be my newest, a Century arms sxs coach in 12g. The 20 inch barrels and its short stock are perfect for HD or skeet or heavy brush or tree stands or... You get the idea!

Well were all armed to the teeth that's for sure. You can't say that about too many first world countries, in fact, you cant say that about too many countries at all.
I think Switzerland and Finland are the only others where all the law abiding average citizenry are pretty well armed. I might be wrong on that, but that is what I recall hearing. |

Yes and no. Switzerland has very strick gun laws, even though their army may consist of what we would call reserves. They may have automatic weapons stored in their lofts, but they are not allowed to touch them without authorization.
I worked once for a company which did business in Europe. Many of the European managers would come to the states for training. One such manager, Yurgon, came to S. Louisiana for training. He heard me talk about my shooting trip for the up coming weekend. He was facinated that we could own handguns. I asked him to accompany me to the range. He then asked, if he needed to check in with local law enforcement before he went with me. I asked why. He said "so that I can tell them I going shooting". I quickly informed him that wasn't necessary. He brought a camera, and had me take pictures of him shooting my handguns. He talked about it for days. He was good people. I think about that experience often. Sometimes, we don't realize how good we have it.

Got my Mossberg 500 Persuader 7+1 12 gauge in my closet ready to "persuade" anyone who breaks into my home to surrender.
I have an opened box of 00 buckshot (ironically Remington) sitting in my desk drawer near the closet so I can just grab a few and quickly load them. And if I don't have the time to load it, I'd just grab my Mini 14 next to the shotgun and slap in the loaded 20 round mag sitting next to it. |

Just my Win 1300 Defender. I like it, but am not in love with it. I grab my XD and flashlight for bumps in the night and if I were to grab a long gun, I would pick my Mini-14 that is next to the Winny, just because I shoot it better and am more proficient with the manual of arms.

I have a Mossberg 500 and a Remington 870 both have 18" barrels and both are used for HD. One is on the 1st floor and the other on the 2nd floor and both are ready to go.
