Mossberg 500 with 18.5 barrel and ghetto light set-up loaded with 5 00 buck and a birdshot in the hole. T it wouldn't let me post the pic bc its already been posted on here???? also i can never get the actual pic to show its always the link so a PM to help with that would be appreciated. |

I load my 12ga 870 Express Turkey (wood laminate stock, not that hideous camo/pistol grip BS) with three shells of #4 buck backed up by two of 00. All 2 3/4" shells.
I live in an apartment. I just cannot justify the penetration of 000 or slugs, and I don't want to take any gambles with birdshot. /Improved choke for HD purposes |

Mine
Mine, Benelli M1 super 90. Loaded with Federal Flite Control low recoil 00 buckshot. Spare carrier from CCW with more of the buckshot, sidesaddle with more buckshot and low recoil Breneke slugs. This is not my primary HD weapon, but the first shotgun I would grab if needed.
Wife prefers this. S&B 000 buck in it. A 25 round box of more 000 and a couple 5 round boxes of Remington slugs live in a position with some real cover in my bedroom. Mossberg HD .410 pump. It's as big as she cares to shoot. If she was in that safe position of cover this would be her first HD choice and she would not be moving from that position, thus the pre-positioned ammo (actually, there are several speedloaders for her HD revolver in the same place). |

to answer your question...
...of how do we load our shotguns for home defense, I typically load mine underneath the firearm in the loading shot shells slot, I haven't to date tried another way but am open to suggestions *chuckle*
JUST kidding, I keep mine loaded with "00" Buck but just recently replaced with "0" buck. I don't mix em in the magazine like most do, guess it depends somewhat on one's residence/surroundings/space etc. We have no bears here in Houston, although some of the BG's are that size *laugh* Last edited by Katrina Guy; September 30, 2008 at 08:21 PM. IIRC the centurion multi-defense ammo patterned ~6"-12" with a big .65 cal hole right in the center at distances between 12-20yards!!! Here is a link to an article written by a buddy of mine http://www.gunweek.com/2007/feature0815.html

dabigguns357,
Where'd you get that shell holder? Something like that'd be nice to keep in the tool box of the truck with the 500. Right now I just keep a ammo can with shells in it but that'd be easier to carry if I needed to. |

I bought my shotgun belt at walmart for $3.96 but had to unstitch the left side to accomadate my holster then i had to restitch it back by hand.It was hard but worth it.The rig you see is what i carry at all time at home or if i'm sleeping keep it next to the bed so can clip it on in a hurry if need be.
