RCBS "Texan" Press

Hey All...
I was on ebay and happened to see an RCBS press called the "Texan" being offered. I have not seen this model before. Is it a good press? Is it discontinued? Just trying to find out some info on it. I will post a few pics. Thanks in advance..

Looks like an old Texan turret press somebody has painted green.

In its day, Texan was a competitor to RCBS, not one of their products.

See a rusty black Texan of the type at:

I purchased a new texan press in 1960 (50+ years ago ) and I am still using it today. It is very well built, smooth and heavy. I don't believe that RCBS had anything to do with them. Mine still looks new as I have always keep it lubed and rust free and I don't think that I would ever part with it.

The guy that put the press up for auction never said the was a RCBS, just painted that green color. What he did say was it was a Texan Turret Press that was completely rebuilt, all the casting flash removed from the press parts. Everything cleaned up then painted.

He did a great job!

Thanks

After looking again at the listing, I see that he never said it was RCBS. I guess I just saw the green color. Nice press. Sold for over $300. I would like to fine one of these. Thanks, everyone, for the input.

Yes you can get a new press for $300, But some of the older presses are built like a tank! The quality and materials that went into some of the older tooling can't be compared today, just better.

The older tooling operates the same as newer stuff but they work smoother, and for older equipment have a good solid feel.

There are two presses I want to have, a Coax and, a Redding UltraMag, that would give me a full bench.
