Springfield SxS $180 tell me more

Hi, I went to a gun show recently, I saw a springfield!? sxs for $180 could I get more info, it was a 28inch barrel. What years were they made in? I really wanted to buy it but had no info on it. What stopped me from buying it was the insane long barrels, I was hoping to find a sxs at the gun show in 18~22inch bbl.

28 in. is average field barrel and nearly the minimum on a clay sports gun.

I am a lover of the 20-24 for field carry but realize I give up a little "pointability" for easier toting and brush busting.

Well was it a good deal for $180? I really wanted it, I could have it cut down to 20 or so but no idea the cost...

For $180, if it shoots and is not beat to hell, id say its a good deal.

If it is a 'Springfield', I am assuming it is the 'Springfield 511' made by Savage...

Did it look like this?:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=270723549

Not pretty, but great rugged gun...Extractors only, and a bugger to remove the barrels, but will eat anything I throw at it...

Stock is Birch I think...Once I scraped the worthless coating that the factory put on, I hand rubbed lots of coats of Boiled Linseed on mine, and it looks much better...

Barrels were mostly 28", Mod/Full...

In good shape, $180 is a steal...

Looks like it, wood was not as nice, barrels on inside were great and shiny.

Any American made SXS that is made with "fluid steel" (not damascus) that can safely fire the round for which they are chambered for is worth $200...

I was thrilled to get a "shooter" grade plastic stocked 5100 Savage with 20 inch 20 gauge barrels for a hundred bucks...
