.30 cal suppressor on 5.56MM?
Just enjoying living in a place where for the first time in my life I can buy all of the goodies I want... so thoughts turn to SBR's and Cans.
With the basic arsenal of .308's and 5.56mm platforms, what ought I know about using a 30 caliber can on a 22 caliber centerfire rifle for flexibility? Idea is to buy a can for the M1A and be able to stick it onto the AR when desired. Ideas? . |

Seems to me there would be quite a bit of blow-by.

I'd agree from a theoretical standpoint... but there's nothing like boots on the ground:
Who has done it, v/s thought about it? Willie |

I have READ that there is only about a one dB loss in suppression from using a size larger "can."
I have seen it at the pistol level, a .45 suppressor on a 9mm gun is still quiet enough that the ring of the bullet against a steel plate and the slap of the slide are as loud as the muzzle blast, maybe louder. |

Willie Sutton, I run my lone .30 caliber can on my M14s, 7.62x39 AKM and 5.56mm AR without issue.
