Gunslingers holster

HELP! I had Terri send me one of their Holsters and I am having some trouble using it comfortably. I do know that I need the next size smaller, but even when I overlap the velcro to make it snug enough the front sight on my Commander gouges me in the side. I am wearing it crossdraw under my left arm just under the breast line. Am I doing something wrong? I need some tips if someone has any , I really do want to make this thing work. Its a nice holster.
