At bare minimum I need to see .30 calliber holes at 100 yards. What magnification will I need? How about at 600 yards? Is there any kind of goofy formula for this?

I'm asking because I saw an inexpensive ($40) scope, but it only has a fixed 30x magnification. I would think this is enough since I can see holes in the white with only 16x magnification.

In a mail order catalog called "HQ." They had some interesting things. It is certainly the place to go if you're looking for wool clothing/blankets/scarves.

I want to check the size of the lens on it tonight.

Funny thing: when the catalog arrived it had a sticker obscuring the curly thing on the Q, so it looked like the catalog was called "HO". I was expecting hooker-wear.
