Just got a 45 auto again, definitely not dead

As long as manufacturers keep producing pistols chambered in .45acp, the cartridge will carry on. I'm constantly in wonder at the new companies producing just the 1911 platform. In addition to home grown pistols like Ruger and Kimber and at least for a while Remington, the import guns are popular too, like Tisas and Rock Island. Add to that modern designs like the Glock and the Smith' M&P.....the .45acp will outlive all of us.

While I'm at it, have you ever considered what other 110yr old semi pistols are still in production? The 1911 has outlived all it's contemporaries....it's premiere cartridge will continue to survive too.

I absolutely LOVE shooting low power target loads at paper targets from my beloved 1911’s. Boom, boom, boom, and hardly any recoil. Don’t take that joy away from me!

For SD/HD, .38 special +P is more my speed.

I have to admit am aging. I am now 72, been carrying and using 1911 45 acp's since I first used one at the age of 19. I have owned several in the past, and now own 2 1911s .45 acp A commander sized 1911, and a full sized 1911. I also own an original COLT, 1911 38 super, that with the purchase of an ED BROWN match barrel and bushing has become a 9 mm, and a baby rock .380. Not the only guns I own, but like the platform.

We are at 13.50 shipped for 124gr FMJ from Winchester (Super-X) and 14.50 for American Eagle.

I admittedly don't follow 45, but hopefully it isn't artificially high (just profiteering) right now.

For 45 auto Herters (cabelas house brand) 230g fmj is $27 per 50. Winchester white box is $ 56 per 100. Hoping to get my reloads down to factory 9mm prices.

For 44AMP. My post was an interrogatory NOT a declaration. Now the update from the weekend sale. No 45 acps left my table. It was a slow weekend. Talking with the promoter the "gate" was down by 50%. What did sell, a black powder 36 cal, Bersa 380 and a 28 gage side by side and misc. leather, grips and blades. What DID land on my table were a Colt Defender 100th anniversary edition and a Sig P245. Yes, both 45 acps. Certainly not DEAD for me. What I did hear spectators say was they were looking for 9mms or small revolvers.

I'm going to be honest here. I have many 45's in my collection but I have not shot anything but 9mm in 3-4 years. It has been hard finding reloading power and primers that I have used in the past. So, the only rounds that I have been purchasing is 9mm. I only shoot 9mm anymore.

I just ordered a Kahr PM45. The 45 will never die. The 1911 is probably the most popular platform ever. There may be more chambered in 9mm these days but 45 still has it's place.

Just a note for info. I have mentioned displaying at two recent gun shows. The last was at Bristol Motor Speedway. Gate was off by half; crowd was dismal. Many vendors complained to the promoter. Looked at show schedule for the 1st Qtr for '23. The Bristol show has been scrubbed. Perhaps the buying public has exhausted its interest, or disposable income. Time and politics will tell.
