38 special brass ?

I bought 500 pcs from a guy online and found it to be almost all Herter's and S&B neither of which takes a primer very well. I can either use a primer pocket uniformer on them all or buy another batch from a different guy. Which would you do ? If I bought new brass what brand do you guys rec0mmend ?

Starline is the cream of the crop for brass, but that doesn't change the fact you have these on hand. Have you tried a case reamer to knock the edge off the primer pocket?

Go with Starline, that Herters and S&B brass are a bear to prime.

Except for 9mms which I have a good, cheap source for mixed range brass, all my new brass is Starline, period.

I won't buy someone else's discards for anything buy 9mm. It's not worth it.

Well, next time a cheap bag of .38 brass comes around are you gonna say 'No thanks, I buy Starline' or are you gonna jump again at a possible bargain? If you're going after bargains then it would be a smart investment to get the best primer pocket former possible.
