Anybody have a good, mil equivalent, load for the 175 Sierra Match King in 308 using RL 15?

Thanks!

CAUTION: The following post includes loading data beyond currently published maximums for this cartridge. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Neither the writer, The Firing Line, nor the staff of TFL assume any liability for any damage or injury resulting from use of this information.

What case and primer will you use? There's almost three grains water capacity difference between military and Winchester cases, for example. I expect you will find you come very close to filling the case below the bullet, though. That's part of what makes that powder popular is good load density.

I have a load in my notes of 44.4 grains I worked up to in LC Match cases using Federal 210M primers. It is not maximum, but hotter loads were less accurate for me. If I were going to switch that to #34 or any magnum primer, I'd probably knock it down to 41 grains and work back up, watching for an accuracy sweet spot. This is for a 22" barrel (M1A).

Note: I was just checking other sources and see Sierra lists 41.3 grains as maximum, but it is for a whole group of bullets, so it will be maxed with the lowest common denominator. Alliant's data allow for up to 45 grains with a 180 grain bullet, but they don't give the case brand.

A 308 load map from 6mmBR indicates:
45gr RL15; F210m primer; 175 SMK; 2.800" col; as very accurate in 24" bbl.
They were using Winchester cases and the load developed 2750 fps.

I use 40 grains of RL 15 in lapua cases with 210M and Lapua 185 scenar loaded to 2.8" for 2400fps which duplicates factory Euro match loads for that weight
