Under Arm Holster - What's the best?

I am looking at getting my concealed carry this summer. I would like to get a couple of under arm holsters to try as that is where I would like to carry. I will either be using a Taurus PT1911 or a Ruger SR40c. I would prefer a molded or leather holster, but I will consider other options if they have good reviews. What options out there for those two guns are the best?

Thanks,
F-C

I have used the Uncle Mikes for my Ruger Redhawk .44 mag.
It really was designed for someone taller than me. I'm only 5'7". I had to modify the holster slightly but then it was just fine and I could carry that big boomer concealed quite comfortably. Lot less expensive than leather also.

I am also considering a shoulder holster, here's my first choice right now http://kangaroocarry.com/ . It is designed by people here in Houston and it looks comfortable and light. I already checked and they will be at the next gun show in Houston. I will probably pick-up one there.

Presently I carry my PF-9 in the waist band but I think having a choice is a good thing.

Disclaimer: Although I am also in Houston I have no affiliation of any kind with this product.

I would try to find somewhere that might let you try one out first. I bought a Galco Miami Classic a few years ago for my Sig 229. It's easily the coolest looking way to carry a gun... but after wearing it for a few days I just couldn't get over how uncomfortable it was.

You wouldn't think that a shoulder holster would put much stress on your back and shoulders... but it does. I still have it, but I rarely use it. Just not all that I thought it would be

Your not kidding about the back and neck strain. Only time I use t is when I have to get dressed up for the wife's nights out.

Okay, if back and neck strain are bad with shoulder holsters, what about a behind the back one? The reason I was leaning towards the under arm is because the 1911 is a big gun to conceal and I was a little worried where it would fit.

This is my wife's rig, but I have the same one

(minus the stethoscope, a different knife and the PDR )

I like it, but its not good while driving. usually toss my pistol in the center console.

EDIT: sorry, thats our summer carry, a S&W 469, I do have the same holster for a RIA CS.

F-C... the SOB (small of back) holster is another one I tried and sold fairly quick. Even now that I make holsters, I try to "direct" people away from carrying behind the back. There are just too many reasons NOT to carry SOB...

You said you're looking for a good way to conceal your 1911? Just my personal experience, but the 1911 is not as hard to CCW as most people think! Sure it's a "longer" pistol... but it is a single stack, and pretty thin. This makes it fairly easy to carry and conceal IWB on your hip.

I have a couple friends that carry a 1911 daily. One has a slim build and the other is... ummm... heavy set Both are able to conceal their full size
1911's extremely well with IWB holsters worn around 3:30 - 4:30 with a forward cant.

As always... YMMV

I use a holster that's similar and it works for me. Get a price on the girl as well.
