Where are gun shops open and closed under COVID-19 emergency orders
The question of what states have either ordered gun shops to close or explicitly declared them as "essential" businesses that can remain open during the COVID-19 pandemic seems to be fluid. Some states have issued close orders and then reversed themselves. In at least two states, county sheriffs have ordered gun shops to close, and then were overridden by legal authorities.
The National Shooting Sports Foundation is a trade association that represents firearms manufacturers, distributors, and retailers. They have been very active in trying to clarify the status of gun shops in all the states, and to keep them open. The NSSF has two web pages that seem to be doing a decent job of providing up-to-date information on the status of emergency orders and gun shop closings. We are providing those links here, for your reference. This is not the place to get into discussions or arguments about the legality or constitutionality of emergency orders to close gun shops. Those are valid questions, but this is not the place for them. If you're interested, the NSSF has a link to sign up for their press releases. The Firing Line is providing links to the NSSF web pages as an information resource. This post/thread will be locked and made (temporarily) a sticky, to hopefully be a one-stop resource for questions about gun shop status in your state. Discussion is not contemplated. https://www.nssf.org/covid19/?utm_so...tm_medium=text https://www3.nssf.org/share/PDF/COVID19-info-FFLs.pdf
