Bullet Packaging Needed. Please Help.

OK. Before I get into this too much I will tell you this.

I have already looked at Topbrass and Midway and I cannot find what I am looking for.

With that being said.

I am looking for 20 round Styrofoam trays w/ boxes for packaging my own .223/5.56 for bulk storage. Specifically I would like to have the 2 rows of 10 & NOT the 4 rows of 5. Just like what major manufacturers use to package their ammo for sale.

Any ideas?

The ones at TopBrass are about you best bet,I use similar box for 7.62 x 39 all paper and they hold up better than the foam ones. I need to order some for my pistol and 54r rifle ammo.

Midway USA - use the 22-250 boxes.

Wouldn't the 22-250 shellholder allow too much play for storage?

I don't know ... that's why I'm asking.

It's the closest I could come up with what you want. I am using the 5 across 10 down ones. My complaint is that unless you package them in paper boxes the styrofoam takes up too much room in storage. But it does keep them apart and safe.

I'm using these:

http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=597634

I know they're not for storing units of 20 but when I work up loads I simply wrap a piece of masking tape around the styrofoam tray and write on it w/r/t various loads.

And they'll hold 20.

The upside to these is that they are a great way to store and organize different loads; the downside is that they take up more space to store rounds than other methods would.

I stick 3-ring-binder label-holders on them to identify what is what--that way I don't have to wreck a paste-on label each time I reload and refill them.

I did some long-term storage of .30-06 rounds in the styrofoam trays back in the 1980s.

I apparently didn't get all of the case lube off the rounds before I put them into the trays.

When I came back several years later the oil had melted the styrofoam into a very nasty mess that was sticking to a number of the rounds. It was tough getting that hardened gook off the cases.

Ah! You found that out, too. It taught me the wisdom of the military's use of cardboard boxes and dividers. Haven't found them new anywhere, though.

I currently have 50+ of the 50 rounders, but they are too bulky.

The problem is ... I picked up a dozen Flambeau T1418 Dry Storage Boxes, and I can't utilize all of the space due to the 50 rounders being too bulky. I need the 20 rounders, and might just settle for the paper trays from Top Brass.

I may have a solution to your problem. I was also looking for the 20 round boxes and just could not find them anywhere. So, I have a friend who's a printer and he also does diecutting. Well we made dies for the 20 round box, ordered some chipboard, and we're on the way. I have some extra boxes over what I need and I'll sell them for 30 cents each plus postage. These are white boxes, fold-up type, with flaps top and bottom. The boxes hold 2 rows of 10 rounds but do not require dividers. Seen the PMC ammo cartons? Same size and arrangement. I don't have a photo but could take one if you want it. Let me know by pm if interested.

Are you looking for bullet packaging, or cartridge packaging? There is a BIG difference.

I'm looking for cartridge packaging.

Didn't the "20 Round Styrofoam Tray" indicate this from my initial post?

It's your misleading subject line that's causing the confusion.
(a loaded cartridge is "bullet packaging".)

Back when I was a smoker I found out that an empty box of cigatettes will hold 20 rnds of 223 quite nicely. Tape em up and back into the carton for a 200 rnd battle pack

Poor man ingenuity
