Hi. I recently traded my Jon boat for a couple of guns. I'd like to know when my nickel snub-nose s&w .38 special model 10-5. Thanks ahead of time for your response.

It does mention SN 180445 shipping in 1929 and a shipment in 1938 included SN's up to 207043. Pricing, based on 2006, shows a range of $700 for Very Good, $1000+ for Excellent and $2000 in As New. This assumes an all original unrefinished gun. Jim |

Hi folks. My buddy and I just came across an old .38 spl snub nose revolver made by S&W. We're trying to find out a little more about it.
When you open up the cylinder, inside you see what looks like "X6179". Very faintly beneath that it looks like "A10". The serial number on the butt of the gun is "D762XXX". Can anybody tell us anything about this? What model is it? When was it made? Maybe about how much it would be worth? Thanks in advance. |

It's likely a model 10. The "A10" you see possibly being M 10. Depending on condition, from $250 to $450. Quote:

serial # search for model and year of handgun
Recently recieved a firearm that was found in a flooded out basement of an individuals father and through the rust I have a serial number but the actual make of the firearm is unreadable. Is it possible to correctly identify a gun by the serial number?

Dad's old Model 19-5
this was my dad's that he acquired when I was just a little guy. Now it is my possession after mom hid it away when he passed in '91. It is extremely clean, and from the looks of it fired very little. I only remember dad taking it out a couple of times.
Sorry for the blurry pics. The serial is AEF7xxx, does anybody have a manufacture date and or an approximate value? That being said the thing is priceless to me, and I will NEVER let it go. Thanks guys. |

ETA: I've still never seen a 19 with the 6" barrel, but there's another thread that's full of them, so I guess they must not be so rare. A bit unusual, I think, but not rare.

Recently came across a .38, blued, new departure with a 4" barrel. Comes with a red box which I think is original. Serial # 171XXX. Can anyone tell me the year of manufacturer. Looks like 4th or 5th model based on the language on the box? Any help is greatly appreciated

Would anyone like to take a stab at a Model 66 serial #9K82XXX? I just picked it up and I know that chances are it is somewhere in the late 70s since it is a no dash and it has recessed cylinders, but I do not know the exact year.
Any help would be much appreciated. |
