Nice thread.
I've been using basically the same load for my 9mm Kimber. |

Doc I still love that 1911. I haven't purchased one yet but am always on the look out.
Win seems to be a pretty popular powder. I am using Titegroup and Universal Clays for my next test loads.

There are two Springfield Armory 5" 1911 pistols is our family. They are our primary IDPA match guns. Standard load is Montana Gold 124gr. HP and 4.6gr Win 231/HP38
LOVE THOSE GUNS

I cannot claim to be a bullet work-up specialist, but it looks as though you have done a magnificent job so far...

Way to go, Doc! Very nice targets, my friend...a good gun you've got there. I've had good luck with HP38 or Win 231 and 9mm over the years.
With 124 gr cast bullets I've had great luck with 4.0 - 4.3 gr of Win 231...good ejection, mild shooting, no leading, and great accuracy...in a Sig 226, Colt Combat Commander and a full size Colt Gov't Model. With 115 gr JHP's (Win and R-P), 4.7 to 4.9 gr of Win 231 or HP38 does the trick. I seat them to 1.125" and get a chrono'd 1156 fps from the Sig. A great load. Here's the pic. Best Regards, (PS: I'll take that Commander off your hands anytime...$200 cash money!!) Rod
