Gen 1 Glocks, what type of poly?

I notice the Gen 1 of Glock 17's look like junk, the plastic looks like something from china, compared to my Gen 4 it just looks on a totally different scale. Has Glock changed the poly they used to make Glocks, and does this mean the Durability of Gen 1 vs Gen 3 and 4 are much, much better?
