sign in queries
Would someone please explain what the queries are when I sign in? Is that the number of members checking to see if I'm logged in or what? Sometimes it's 9 but lately it's 11. What is this number, and what does it mean?

It's the number of sql queries executed by the page you're on. It's just a minor bit of info.
As to the varying numbers, my guess is that the number of queries for any page will change slightly depending on whether the software found some of the information it needed in the cache (memcached in this case).
