I'm looking to reload for my 45 and 9mm. Are berry bullet good for plinking? If so does anyone know where i can find load data for them?
Thanks |

Berry's Bullets are fine bullets for plinking.
For 45 just use load data for jacketed bullets of the same grain. I assume the same is true for 9mm but I've never reloaded Berrys in 9mm, and assuming something in reloading is a dangerous proposition

I have burned through about 2000 Berrys and they are good bullets. I recommend sticking to their round nose bullets though because the 45acp SWC and flat nose bullets can test a guns ability to feed.

I think sticking to their round nose is a good idea, I have had problems with their hollow points, to my knowledge they do not provide any load data.

Use mid level jacketed data as their website suggests.
I get good accuracy with Bullseye powder in .38, .45 and 9mm. My P38 doesn't like their flat nose bullets, but I don't blame Berry's for that. Go with RN bullets for the fewest problems with your bottom feeder of choice. |

I've loaded and shot hundreds of the 115gr RN Berry plated 9mm bullets with 4.7 gr HP38 powder and work great in all my 9mm's for plinking/target shooting.

They work just fine. In both calibers I load them with the same specs as jacketed. Nither will push them beyond what they can handle.

I've loaded and shot well over 20k of Berry's bullets over many years. They're a great bullet for the money. Load light to mid jacketed data for loading.

For target and plinking I use them all the time and find them to be good quality. I use lead bullet load data for them. Also they work perfectly in my Glocks, no leading problems.

I was told to keep them under 1200 fps and I'd be fine......so far I'm fine.

I've used about a thousand of them, and switched to Hornady jacketed after I had trouble with Berry's tumbling.

Just ordered another 1000 of Berry's from Powder Valley. Good bullets.

I've used the 185 gr rn, hbrn and the 230 gr rn in 45 acp. I've used the 124 gr rn and hbrn in 9mm. Excellant accuracy with all, highly recomended.

The Berry's 185 gr. SWC is the best bullet I've found for accuracy in both my 1911s. I've shot a lot of their 9mm 124 gr. RNs too and while they are ok I think I am going to try something else and see what happens. My particular 9mm barrel might like a different weight of bullet.
If you get involved in any club matches the Berry's Double Struck bullets are worth the extra money IMHO, especially the hollow base offerings. For folks reading this thread and shooting other calibers--I've tried and liked Berry bullets in .32 .38/.357 .40.and .44 calibers as well. Sometimes buying from Berry direct is the way to go, if you are ordering over 50.00 worth as the freight is free. Sometimes Powder valley is a less expensive source. Sometimes--well my mamma told me---you gotta shop around. If you like messing with people, you might consider getting a Berry's ball cap--unless they're recently changed the design on it--it's very hard to read until you get right up close to it. People stare at it trying to read it so I look up where they're looking and they either go crazy trying to read it without staring or go away mumbling or ask what it says--I make up stuff--blueberry stuff works around here--we're surrounded by blueberry fields--strawberries used to be cultivated around here as well....

Yes, Berry's are pretty good bullets ....way above average compared to other "plated bullets" in my opinion ...but not as good as true "jacketed bullets".
I've reloaded and shot thousands of Berry's bullets in 9mm, .40S&W, .45 acp, .357 mag and .44 mag with no issues ....but I do keep them under 1200 fps - as recommended on Berry's website. I load Berry's to mid ranges for jacketed bullets. |
