Raised an eyebrow or two

There were a few reloaders on the line today, so this sight raised an eyebrow or two.

Reloading 7.62x39mm, weird, home casting for it, really weird, powder coating for it, went beyond the left field wall...

Lets not mention shooting cast bullets in a gas operated rifle...

Just started experimenting, these are the old Lee 160s, didn't do to badly.

No leading, nothing in the gas tube. I like that.

I have 1000 7.62 x 39 loaded with that Lee 160. Havent had a chace to shoot them yet as I still have a bunch of 90 grainers to burn through first but it sure works well in my 30-06. Mine just aint powdercoated.

James, that's what my wife said. I'm working with powder that was given to me, going to get some other colors like gray and black soon.

Lipstick applied at 1800 fps would be a rude awakening. :-)

Been shooting cast lead in my SKS rifles for over five years now with no issues. I use the Lee 160 gr. TL bullet as well.

Powder coated a few up a couple months back and ran them through the Chinese SKS and got single digit ES and SD numbers on a five shot test string using Alliant 2400.

armoredman if you have some Reloader #7 try the starting load of 18.0 grs. no filler and see if the groups tighten up. It's a very accurate load in my Chinese,Yugo and others Russian SKS rifles I've shot it in. I haven't tried the Reloader load with PC'ed bullets yet but that's on the agenda.

Oddly enough I do have some RL7 hidden away, but not much.

My Saiga locked up using cast lead. Lead ring formed around the piston. Wish powder coating had been around back then.
