Coated hardcasts

Ok this is not another huge thread of lead in a polygonal barrel argument. I am talking about coated bullets. Has anyone ran them through a polygonal rifled barrel and what are your results?

Once again, I dont want to hear about bare hardcasts, that subject has been beat to death here.

Thank you.

I'll move this over to the cast bullet forum. The guys there have been playing with bullet powder coating and maybe one of them has tried them in polygon rifling. I have not.

I've run some hard cast 9mm in my HK VP9 with powder coated bullets with no signs of ill effects. Perfectly accurate and a breeze to clean the barrel afterwards.

If you run the hammer test and squash a bullet you'll see how tough the powder coat can be. Darn near jacketed capability... well not quite but you get the picture.

I don't know, but I will be finding out here real soon! I'm getting some to put through my H&K P2000 in .40 -- it's has the polygonal rifling but I've been so impressed with coated bullets in regular barrels I have a lot of faith that they will be great in polygonal too. But I guess I'll be the guinea pig and try it out and report back!

I talked to a guy at a gun shop in Roswell today who says he does just that. Said its like running jacketed.

Haven't tried it myself... Just relaying it second hand.
