EXCEL Shotgun
I inherited my father's boyhood shotgun. It's an EXCEL 20 Ga. breakopen single barrel. It is approximately 70 yrs old and originally had a nickel receiver, blue barrel with black painted stock and forearm. Any help in learning it's origin would be appreciated.

Excel was a registered trade name of Montgomery and Co of Chicago on guns made by H&D Folsom and Iver Johnson Arms and Cycle Works. It is termed a "Hardware Gun" made by a major mfg for just about anyone who wanted their name on a gun. They were good inexpensive utilitarian shotguns.
