hornady primer pickup tube ?
I have the Hornady LNL AP and the primer pickup tubes seem a little hard to use, especially the large one. Has anyone else found this and has a way to make them easier to use ?

I have them but haven't found them hard to use. As a matter of fact I've added 3 more of both the small and large pickup tubes.

maybe its just me but I find the large one to be hard to center the primer under and need to push quite hard to get the primer to go in. The small one works good

Mine took a while to break in. The large one is still quite stiff because I don't use it nearly as much as the small one.

Are you using them for the right primer size?not trying to be a wise guy but stranger has happened? Leave the end primer in the pick up at all times helps b break them in..

The one that came with my LNL-AP is a dream to use, the ones I bought after are really stiff and aren't going to get any better than they are now. Not after 3years of having a primmer left in the end.
I leave a primer in the end on purpose hoping they will stretch a little. Don't think it's going to happen now. I wish I could ream them out a little without ruining them. The solid part is the problem, not the fingers. Rebs, I know how you feel. |

the Dillon has a rubber tip, I have no experience with them but they would work for our presses.

I have used Dillon ones at my buddy's house and they worked very well. Easier than the Hornady ones. I was thinking about buying some but I will probably get a vibrating primer tube filler instead.

Mine were also hard to use. Took some fine sand paper 600 grit I think. Wrapped it around an Allen wrench and polished the inside of the plastic lips. They work great now.

I used my Lock-N-Load primer pick up tool ONCE and immediately ordered a Frankford Arsenal Vibra-Prime Automatic Primer Tube Filler. Best forty bucks I ever spent.

Once you get the hang of the Vibra-Prime it is a great tool and much faster
