Evenin everyone,
I've been a bird hunter for years (shotguns) and took my first elk with a modified british 303 41 years ago. I just added a S&W 38 to my (admittedly) small arsenal. This is my first hand gun and was purchased at a garage sale, so I'm trying to find some more information on it. I know S&W prints and/or printed a catalog of serial #'s...hoping someone who has it can help me out. It's a 6 shot revolver, SA/DA, 4" barrel, nickle plated with bone grips. What I assume to be the SN is on the butt, 225361 * The barrel is marked 38 S&W Special CTG on one side, Smtih & Wesson on opposite, and Smith & Wesson Springfield Mass USA patented FEB 6 06 SEPT 14 09 DEC 29 14 on top of barrel. Any help with identification, proper loads and date of manufacture would be appreciated... |

M66-4 in excellent condition
$375 + Obamatax! = 405 bucks. I just put secret service ebony grips to replace those awful rubber ones (had those grips . A question, serial number starts at BSZ, so is this about 1999? It has the rounded style rear sight (the front of it) firing pin on the hammer, and case hardened hammer and trigger. And here she is below! Last edited by Glenn E. This is my first post and I'm looking for a little help. My Uncle recently gave me a S&W .38 revolver he said he acquired it in Vietnam and his LT. signed off on him keeping it. Its a model 10-5 serial C905XXX. Just looking to find out some info on it. He was a Marine 0311 and I have figured out that these were typically given to aircrew so he must have picked it up or traded it somewhere.

I remember that Model 10's were provided to Air Force pilots so that may be where it originated from. Quote:

I was just given a S&W 38 Special CTG with the serial 873**. Does anyone have any info on it? It was given by my mother-in-law, it was her dad's who was an Air Force pilot. (I read above where it was said some guns were given to them)

Model 24-2 serial number
I was wondering about the date for my Model 24-2. S/N is AEL13XX. This particular revolver is a short bbl (2 1/2 inch?) with high gloss bluing and high end factory grips.
Thanks.... |
