anyone try Arm or ally .224 55g FMJ?
So I bought 1000 .224 55g FMJ from arm or ally. They stated the bullets are made by a leading US manufacturer. I really like the profile and I was able to get 1000 with shipping and tax to my door for $100.82.
Only catch I have run into so far is no idea on BC or seating depth. I compared them to my Hornady .224 55g fmj and they are definitely not the same bullet. I would presume you would seat them to the middle of the cannelure and I should be good. I do have a bullet seating measuring tool I will need to dig out and check to see but it will be a pain taking 10 measurements on 5 different rifles. Anyone else using these? Anyone know who is making this bullet for them? Here are the bullets for anyone interested. https://www.armorally.com/shop/arm-o...lure-bulk-oem/ Hornady on the left, Arm or ally on the right

I would start with max coal and make sure there is still healthy bullet jump. Then I fire a charge ladder. Pick the node and start reducing coal for best group.

Quick update. Did a bit of measuring, not a ton but enough to tell me what I needed to know.
First off I measured the cannelure placement in relation to COL using a case that was 1.750 long. Seated some bullets at the bottom and top of the cannelure and measured to get a rough idea of min and max col in relation to the cannelure. the bottom of the cannelure measured at a col of 2.265 the top of the cannelure measure at a col of 2.213 so to be about in the middle of the cannelure the seating depth would be right about 2.240 I then did a bit of measuring on a couple barrels with the bullets up against the rifling. Barrel #1 was a faxon match grade 223 wylde chamber which measured in a 2.275 Barrel #2 was a PSA heavy barrel in 5.56/223 and it measured in at 2.322 barrel #3 was a Ballistic advantage 5.56/223 and it measured in at 2.341 seems worst case, in the tighter 223 wylde chamber, I would still have 0.035 of jump, at the 2.240 seating depth, more than enough, and that would still give me plenty of room in the magazines. Now I just need to put together some test loads to do a workup to make sure everything it still happy.

I've been using them for plinking bullets. I seat to the top of the cannelure - 2.212". I've not driven them hard - 2900fps max using Xterminator, LT-30, 2015, AR plus - whatever was cheapest. They work fine for whacking an 8" steel plate at 100yds - I've no intention of shooting groups with them. I'd use Bob's bullets if I wanted bulk precision.
If I watch the sales and the shipping, I can get AOA or Armscore to my door for 8.5cents - 1k. Have fun! |

OP, please let us know how the bullet shoots. I may want to buy some myself. Price is right.

Btw, this the link I use to find the cheapest 223 bullets - but you do have to investigate shipping. I just ordered 1k of Armscore 55gr fmjbt @8.8 cents to my door (selected cheapest shipping, etc.)
