5.56 upper to 6.8/224 Valkyrie?
I bought a 224 Valkyrie barrel and would like to build an upper. I have a complete built upper ready but it for a 5.56. Can I use the 5.56 upper for my build? I know the bolts are different between the 6.8/224 and the 5.56, Thanks

I put a 6.8 barrel on a regular AR15 upper no problem

The 6.8 uses a different magazine, not sure about the 224. I bought a 6.8 complete upper and slapped it on a 5.56 lower and it runs flawlessly.

Yep. Bolt face and mag are different.

Yes a .224V and or 6.8 barrel could use the same upper.
As mentioned.. you will need a different bolt, and mag. However.... a stripped upper or complete upper is so cheap, I wouldn't even bother to swap it out. I'd buy a spare upper. That way you have both "completed" uppers readily available to you. Seriously, AR15 uppers can be bought for diddly squat. |
