Remington 512 Sportmaster refinish
Another one, this one is a Remington 512 Sportmaster (the second one I have done). It wasn't in too bad of shape, the stock needed some cleaning up. Then I polished and reblued most of the steel parts

Great job. I've also got a 512 that needs a restoration like this (but my metal is in even worse shape). What bluing did you use?

Beautiful restoration work.
I worked on a similar gun (513?) and even had an article published in American Gunsmith on it. The one I worked on was bead blasted and blued.

Here is another one I did: a Remington 511 Scoremaster, the owner brought me the parts about 3/4s polished, so I finished the polishing, blued them and painted the ready-fire and safe indicators as well as did some nitre bluing on some small parts
This is the result ![]() ![]() blog post: https://tincanbandit.blogspot.com/20...oremaster.html

My old trusty. Have had since 1949. No refinish. I wore out a few gunsmiths trying to get it to feed.
Last one fixed it. ![]() Feeding from the tube is their weak spot I found. Still have the original hang tag. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
