If it has adjustable sights and there is a "K" preceding the serial number then it's a K-22 (pre 17). There may be several spaces between the K and numbers and they would be located on the underside of the frames grip butt. K220xxx would be 1954.

6514xx would be 1956/57.
As for the other, all the book shows is the serial numbers ran from 712952 in 1961 to 826977 in 1976. So, best guess, earlier 70's.

Hi all, I have picked up a Chiefs Special Model 36 with a 3 inch barrel. I am having difficulty coming up with a date of Manufacture and value on the gun. The Serial number is 173xxx so it lands in the area past the 1957 date by about 47000 units. Any ideas? It is in immaculate shape!
