45 cal 230rn load data inquiry

I have a petload for Dardas 45cal 230 rn at 5gr Bullesye and have started to cast Lee 225gr rn

Have you found the 225gr Lee cast to be about the same as your 230gr rn pet load?

I can't answer your question directly.

But what I can tell you is that if I was in your position, I'd fall back on 36 years of loading experience and load up them 225's with the same 5.0 grains of Bullseye and see how they perform.

The weights and profile (RN) are close enough where there should be little difference.

I've cast a lot of those but I load them with Red Dot. I don't know anything about the other bullet you mention so I can't say for sure if it will work but if it's also a cast bullet, they should be very close.

The thing is that you might use a harder or softer alloy than the bullets you're already shooting so working up to your pet load is going to be the safe thing to do.

5 grains of Bullseye has been a standard hardball load since about WWI. Still works. With lead bullets I can't tell much difference in the 1911. Works with them, too.
