I've been using a small drum tumbler for yrs and had no problem except for replacing the belt once (sewing machine motor drive belt for $3). It's way, way quieter than any vibrator type and can run 24x7 without a problem. I tumble rocks for a week at a time in it. The lid and drum are water tight for adding liquid polishers, etc. No timers or tending needed either. The downside is lower capacity compared to a vibrator.
