Colt mustang
I got a stainless steel version of the Colt Mustang Pocketlite 380 I am thinking about selling it. Everything on the gun is original and Ive never fired it. However I don't know what a fair asking price would be, I know it would be helpful to have pictures but I havent had time to take any yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try to find a few similar guns for sale on Gunbroker - track the auctions to see what they're getting when they sell. GB prices are often higher than what you'll get locally, but it will give you a benchmark. My quess is that the pistol you're describing would go for something over $600.

If you're going to sell it contact dreamweaver here on TFL. He collects them

Do you have original box? That + unfired condition should bring $600 if you want to sell immediately, $700 if you are willing to wait a little bit and $800 if the right person comes along (could take a month or two).

Unfired, in the box, someone will pay $700-$800 for it.

I think that's a fair price. I paid 650.00 a short time ago, lightly used but no box. From what I saw when I was shopping the prices can go a bit lower than that and a lot higher. I put off buying last year because prices seemed out of line. If you can't get a fair price now just wait a while.

Market value also depends upon what part of the country you're in.
In my area, a new, unfired, w/ box Pocketlite would bring in over $800 as trade-in at a dealer. Face-to-face market value is well over $1000. Very few were originally sold here. As such, they command quite a premium on the used market. (Even a well-worn example can bring in $850+, with only one after market magazine {no Colt mags}, and no extras of any kind.)

For instance, there's about a 30% price increase going from my area towards Philadelphia - not to mention NJ or NY. Certain states, like CA and the aforementioned, seem to pay through the nose for everything. |

It seems like it might be something to hold onto for awhile, I did some reading and if Im right colt stopped production on these awhile ago. So if I wait I could probably get alot more out of it.

They have been out of production long enough for the market to stabilize. They're actually losing value, now. The introduction of other micro-compact .380s has eaten away at the market value of all Mustangs, and prices are coming down.
lol kinda shot my idea out of the air there, after reading that I went and shot it a little bit, the gun handles amazingly well. |
