Bushnell SCOPECHIEF IV

I was looking for a fixed, low power scope for my Savage 99F 300S and came upon a supposedly used 2 3/4X20 model of this scope at a LGS....has a Command Post reticle where you can switch from a fairly fine cross-wire to a thick post with the flick of a ring. Still in the box and appears to have never been mounted.

He had, in addition, a used Leupold Vari-X II, 2-7X33... i was very surprised when comparing the two side by side that this made in Japan Bushnell appeared noticeably clearer and brighter. I adjusted the Leupold to about the same power to try to compare fairly.

A little bewildered, I told him to hold it for me until I did some checking...can anyone attest to the quality/durability, etc. of this scope?
