.25-35 WCF

I'm looking at a 1950's 94 Winchester in .25-35 at a local gun shop. Before I plunk down 600 bucks, I was wondering if there are any problems reloading for this round.

Only Winchester makes the brass and it doesn't look like there is much of a bullet selection that is appropriate for this round.

It's easy to reload, use Hornady #2550 RN 117 gr and 25.0 gr IMR3031, gives about 2250 fps.

Thanks. Have you ever reformed .30-30 cases to .25-35 WCF?

If I pick it up, I'll be on the hunt for a .258 bullet mold...

Never went from 30-30 to 25-35 (factory brass is available), but I have made 219 Zipper out of 30-30 brass. I don't see why you would want to make it from 30-30, Midway says it's in stock.

I have resized 30-30 brass for it. Worked great for me

Thanx on on the resizing. I've ordered 100 new Prvi cases from Grafs. I'm not fond of Winchester brass and they're the only ones selling it. There's other that list the ammo but it's all out of stock.

It looks like I will need to get a set of the RCBS molds and handles. I've been avoiding RCBS molds because all the rest of the casting stuff I have is Lyman and I didn't want to pop for another set of handles. I guess I'm just a bit too cheap sometimes.

The only thing I'd be careful of is if you're reforming .30-30s is to measure the resized neck with seated bullet VERY carefully to make sure it's below maximum diameter.

Will do. I've been reforming brass for other calibers for a long time and I'm familiar with the process...

Going from .30 to .25 shouldn't be a problem, but you never know.

The 25-35 is a fun cartride to shoot but on the light side for deer. What I do with mine is reload with spitzer bullets and then load the rifle with one round only. The loading tube's plunger is round, at least mine is, and prevents loading pointed bullets in the tube. I found this out when I was going to load one round in the tube and one round in the chamber. The round plunger pushed the cartridge out of line and it wouldn't let it slide in. I''m not sure about this but it seems that I remember Remington selling 117 grain .25 caliber round nose bullets. Check it out.
