Thanks again for the input. I've been using 21.4 grains of H110 behind a 210 XTP. Seems to be a really nice load. Shoots very well at 25 yards: one raged hole from the rest and not much worse from offhand. I haven't had an opportunity to stretch the range out, but I like how it performs so far. Thanks again for your insights.

For full-power loads, the two powders are H110/W296 and Hodgdon's Lil' Gun. Velocities are about the same, as are the amount of powder used, but Lil' Gun sometimes does the same work at much lower pressure levels. Data from Hodgdon's 2004 magazine loading manual:

Remington cases and Winchester LP primers; 10" barrel

210 XTP, COL 1.580"
start=20.5 grains, 1505 fps; max = 22.5 grains, 1626 fps, 29,900 cup

220 Speer JSP, COL 1.580"
start=18.0 grains, 1431 fps; max=20.5 grains, 1563 fps, 31,200 cup

I have noticed Lil' Gun really heats up my Redhawk, 6 shots leaves the cylinder too hot to touch with bare skin without getting burned.

In My Actual Experience:

I have on the same day same gun(s) same everything except : two separate lots of H110 / three separate lots of W296 tested exact against exact in 357 / 41 / 44 Magnum, and a couple loads in 45 Colt.

My W296 and H110 act differently, lots (oh, I kill myself) differently.

I once read a rumor that in the olden days H110 was W295. Now the rumors I read suggest that different flash and temp inhibitors are different.
I don't actually know anything other than what I've tested...........

But I continuously get better accuracy in my (4) 357's using H110.

I also use and like H-110. I started at 20.5gr with a 210 XTP and worked up to 22.0gr, all with CCI 350 primers. With 22.0gr H-110 in a ruger blackhawk I get about 1400fps.

For lighter loads I use from 12.0gr blue dot through 13.5gr blue dot with the same primer and bullet mentioned above.

disclaimer: What I load in MY gun may not be safe in YOURS. Use caution.

Any of the H110 users here notice a lot of accuracy variation depending on how many grains you use? Just curious...

I think that accuracy is better with more powder in the case (i.e. higher case density).

Of course, a consistant measure and a good scale help!

i was a little disappointed by my denser load of H110, but I think it was me--not the load itself. I'm a fairly young guy, and I resent my glasses so I left them at home. I have a holosight mounted on my .41 and not having my glasses--although I didn't expect it--seems to have really have made a difference. I'll give it another shot with my glasses and see if the denser loads being more accurate holds true.
