How many have you sold-what do you want to acquire?

Out of 23 firearm purchases in the last 7-8 months, I have sold two, and traded a third. One I sold because I couldn't get it to operate dependably enough for my tastes-(Beretta 9000S). The second I sold, because I quickly realized that I would not shoot it enough to enjoy it and the ammunition was not readily available and was costly-(FN-57). The one I traded-(HK P2000), netted me a new gun-(Kel-Tec PLR-16), and 1000 rounds of ammo.
I plan to acquire a Bushmaster Bullpup M17S in the next week or so, and then shortly thereafter an SKS. I also want a Colt 45 Defender, and AR-15, a Kel-Tec P-11, and an FN FS2000.
What guns have you sold or traded, and why? And what guns do you want in the future? The sky's the limit!

I'm thinking of selling my S&W 4566, LEO special order, and my 4506-1. I'm going to purchase a pre lock 686+, a 5967, a model 19 2.5", a Colt Detective special, and a 586 4". Not neccesarily in that order. I also want a Marlin Camp Carbine in 9mm, and a Beretta 9mm rifle. I know I will regret selling the 4566 as it has night sights and a spurless hammer, as well as the decock only mod. It's been a sweet CCW gun, but I've already got a 3913 and a 4516 for CCW, and am running out of room in my small safe. Decisions are hard to make in these cases. Regards 18DAI.

+1 on the decisions part 18DAI. Good luck. At least it sounds like you've got a plan. Thing is as we grow, our tastes and needs seem to undergo changes. So, what makes you happy today, might not do it for you next year. And with all the new goodies they're coming out with...what's a poor gun enthusiast to do?

BADMAN400 - The one advantage I have going for me is, I must be getting old. I haven't seen a newly manufactured handgun that I can lust after. The "spacegun" look dosen't do anything for me. S&W stopped making anything I could use. So I'm cruising pawn shops, and gunshows lusting after model 19's and 586's. The good news is, they are cheaper than the new guns! Your right about the tastes changing. I started lusting after the old performance center semi auto's. Those are some fantastic pistols, they are few and far between though. Well, enjoy the hunt, Regards 18DAI.

Well, I've had and sold off my semi-auto pistols. I'm an old-fashioned poot, I guess, and I prefer my revolvers, leverguns, and side-by-side shotguns. They're fun and serve me well. I can see myself back into the autos someday, something like a Ruger Standard or Browning Buckmark, but for the time being, I'm happy with what I've got.

P&R, Wow! You sold more than most of us have owned! Impressive.

So far I've sold a Browning Hi-Power, Taurus PT-22 .380, and a Bersa. The Hi-Power's trigger was poor, same for the Taurus. The Bersa was sold as I preferred the similar sized S&W 3914 by a large margin.

I'll probably sell my PM9 and XD9 after they get back in working condition. My 3914 and revolvers go bang every time, these didn't.

Been thinking about picking up a S&W 3906/4506 as full sized companions for my 3914/4513. The rest of my list looks amazingly like 18DAI's list. Pre-lock 686+ snubby if I can find one at a decent price, and a 9mm carbine.

quite a few

Over the years (35+) that I have been "playing" with guns, I have sold quite a few, traded some more, and given away a couple (to family/friends). Some of them I was glad to see go, and some of them, I would pay a premium to get them back. Haven't sold more than a couple in the last 20 years, but I have traded some.

I have a 10/22 and don't plan on selling it anytime soon. (Before anyone starts ragging on me for only having a 10/22, I'm 14.)

As for what I'm looking into getting? My next is probably going to be a Marlin 336 .30-30. After that, I'll be looking into a Saiga .308, a Mossberg 500 12-gauge (with a 20" barrel and eight-round mag), and maybe even a Kel-Tec P11 9mm (I'll have to see about Oregon laws on handgun possession first; I know I can legally possess long guns with parental permission, but I don't know about pistols).

I've sold too many. I want a HK45 and a P30 when they come out... a PTR-91 (or a low-mileage, original HK91), and a Mossberg 590.

Oh yeah and a P7M8.

Jguy101--

Don't expect any ragging on you from me. I'm in the grandpa category, and like to help young bucks learn to shoot. That 10/22 is a great starting point, and it's a nice rifle.

I'm very partial to Marlin leverguns, and would certainly support you in that decision. I've got a 39 and an 1894, which I think will do me well, but I certainly wouldn't mind having a 336 in .30-30.

Check your local regulations regarding handguns. Here is Ohio, at least, they're not legal for anyone under 18.

Best regards,

Skeeter

I have not sold to many, some that come to mind were my DR200 and couple other SKS and K31's to thin my collection. I did not want to worry about the DR 200 breaking down, thank goodness I held on to all my mags what with the 556's coming out. I tranded a S&W 3914 for a swede M96, traded a Swiss K31 and a little money for a Huskvarna M38.

Sold my CZ 100 to get a Walther P99 in Titanium (did not like the DA only pull of the CZ.)

The P99 was a QA and I think I gave up on it too soon (did not like the QA trigger also).

Sold the P99 and got a Glock 34 - which is a keeper. Love it. Rugged, reliable and accurate. Third time's the charm I guess.

My gun collection story is...

Started with a cooey model 75 single shot .22lr
bought a remington 742 in .243
bought a remington 597 SS
traded the .243 on a .270 savage 110L
trading savage .270 on ruger .270 with stainless barrel/laminated stock.

as you can see im young and havent got the money to play around with more guns but you can bet your life that ill have a few more in a couple years after college.

Like to get a Beretta 90-Two also.
Rifles and shotguns - when I have time to learn them better, I'm sure there will be a whole list that I want.
