Go here: http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp
Follow the cast bullet data ! That bullet can`t stand alot of speed though , not tuff enuff to grab the rifling as it`s swaged from nearly pure/if not pure lead.

Yes i looked on there load data page just wondered if the hornady manual had diff. info.
So going by Hodgdon load data it says starting Gr. 4.7 for vel of 801 and Max at 10gr for 1288fps 10% under Max would be 9gr but i think that would be to fast with these bullets? should i start at 4.7gr? i have no way of knowing what Vel of the bullet. Has anyone used these bullets? at what Vel. will they start leading the barrel? Ya i know im new at thiis so thanks for the info.. 460 |

I picked up a box of these to plink with, but havent got around to using any yet. I will most likely use W231 as I do with all my plinking/target loads.
I have read some say this bullet leads up barrels like crazy, but Idk. I also here if you coat them with Lee Alox there good to go. I'll try them without the Alox first , if they do lead I'll tumble them. Just something to think about, since they are sold in bulk most places. |

Titegroup is a fast powder , & I would start as close to "start" loads as possible.
Do the ladder method , yes it works for handguns also . I`d go up until the cases come out of the cyl. clean as when fast burners reach a certain pressure they tend to get very spiky on pressure curves. Since no chrony pay particular attention to the details you have at hand (case cleanliness, stiking cases , primer set back on low end loads, & accuracy/bullet stablization) Many loaders load without a chrony , but it is an insightfull tool ! Settle on a load & have fun !!! Be Safe !!!

well i loaded up 12 rounds and took them out and tested them.
6 where loaded with 5gr and the brass came out vary sooty and there was a lot of smoke while firing the rounds. 6 where loaded with 6Gr of powder and the brass also came out vary sooty and also a lot of smoke. my ruger is filthy just from 12 rounds. is this normal with reloads or am i doing something wrong? could my crimp not be tight enough? Any help would be great. 460 |

Hornady 240gr SWC
These bullets are swag-ed,NOT CAST,meaning they are Very Soft. You can't push them very hard or they will lead like mad.....
Target grade loads only.....
