Re22 with a 140 grain bullet is the classic load, and I have had good luck with it. I have begun loading some lighter bullets and had excellent results with 130 Nosler Accubond and Re19, probably my new "go to" load. IMR 4350 and H4350 do well also. Note that I am shooting a Model 70 with a 22" barrel. A long barreled Mauser 96, which I have but don't shoot a lot, will probably like the slower powder better.

The slower burning powder for heavier bullets. The faster burning for lighter ones. For those in the middle, take your pick.

A good example is the use of IMR4350 for loading the 30/06 with 165 gr. bullets and above. Excellent pwder.

For 165 and below, IMR 4064 is my favorite.

The 165 gr. is well served with either powder.

I bought some Re22 for my Swede, but had such good results with IMR 4350, that I really haven't tried it, other than a half-hearted attempt with about 10 or 15 cases... didn't do as well as the 4350, so I just shelved it.
I plan to do more experimenting with the rifle, so I'm sure that powder will be tried again.
I would be interested in hearing results from your efforts, however...
