Another good Barnes TTSX application
I've had mixed results with these. Some of my guns are indifferent, but for several, I get my best groups with the copper wonders. That's the case here.
I had tasked myself with comparing an old load for 200 Nosler Accubond with a more recent workup of 210 Barnes TTSX (.338 Win Mag). I forgot I had remounted the scope, then thought to check the stock screws (my biggest complaint with the Savage 116), and I pretty much frittered away the 20 Noslers I'd brought. They do well, though. The gun was pretty hot, but I had 5 of the Barnes with me. I had previously shot a 1" group with them, so I wasn't really testing. Banged off the 5 in about 2 minutes. These things just shoot. I think the high one was me. These magnums, you know, make everyone flinch. And I was protected only by a T shirt. Seriously, the 200s and 210s have noticeably less recoil than 250s. I think I'll be loading Barnes 210s unless I'm after something that might eat me. |

I have never had much luck with Barnes' TSX and TTSX getting groups less than 1 MOA. Maybe it's because I never shot those bullets exclusively. But they worked for hunting. Killed a lot of hogs with the TSX in 6.8. Never had one run on me. Lethal bullet.

These .338s work, and I've had good luck with 80gr .243s. Others, like the .264 120 gr and .323 160, not so much.

Give the Nosler "E-Tips" a try.
