1187 leaving shells in the mag

Loading up deeks the other day, friend of mine shows me his 1187.
The bolt is locked back (manually) but both shells are still in the magazine.
Apparently this happens either firing or clearing the shotgun, but not consistently.
Any ideas?

Maybe a dead magazine spring?

Possibly rust on the inside of the mag tube...

Remove magazine cap, spring retainer, spring and follower...

Inspect parts and inside of mag tube...Follower is plastic, and may be boogered up...May be rust in the tube, or indeed spring may have 'sprung'...All parts are still available...

1187

Thanks folks
Weak spring, deformed plastic piece or just dirt.
Mabey a combo of all three. I'll let him know

It could very well be none of the above. I have the same problem with an 1100 I got in trade recently. Cleaned the mag tube and replaced the spring...the follower was cleaned and is in good shape. I even cleaned the action tube and replaced that spring, still didn't work.

I plugged in another trigger group and everything was fine...so could be something with that or the carrier assembly. The person who traded the gun to me has agreed to fix whatever the problem is.

My 1100 quit feeding from the mag... The feed/shell latch needed to be replaced...

trigger group

The feed gate is part of the trigger group assembly on both models, right?
