AR Front Sight Post
I'd like to swap out the front sight post (just the post, not the entire A2 sight base) in my AR for something more visible. Does anyone have any recommendations for a new post that is more visible than the standard post and easy to install (I don't want the cross-hair model that I've seen)? Is installation just a matter of screwing out the old post and dropping the new one in? Thanks.

You could always put some paint on your current front site. I've been using a Silver Sharpie marker with great results. Easy to see, easy to install.

if you want tritium. I've found that taking a white paint marker and painting the rear side of the sight post works pretty well at night. It also makes it easier to acquire during the day. I put a tritium front sight on an AR carbine. It didn't help much w/o the rear insert to match. For daylight use, it makes no diff. If day use only, I'd look at one of the fiber optic front sights. I had to go that way on my muzzleloader for a Colorado hunt(they don't allow optics).
Forgot the installation question. You have to hold the detents down to unscrew the sight post. Be advised the detent and spring may launch from under the post when it is removed. |

Theres lots of options out there, I always like to try the easiest and cheapest ones first. Paint or markers might be your friends on this venture
